Our specialists in diabetes management offer group and individual counselling for adults and children with diabetes and pre-diabetes following evidence-based practice guidelines. Our outreach team provides education sessions and screening in several communities within Renfrew County including Beachburg, Cobden, Killaloe, Golden Lake, Pikwakanagan, Petawawa, Calabogie, Arnprior, Deep River, Eganville, Renfrew and Pembroke.
Nutrition counselling is done on a group basis for cholesterol and blood fat concerns; other nutrition issues are addressed on an individual basis for outpatients and for patients admitted to the hospital.

Ocean e-referral: Renfrew County Diabetes Education Program - Pembroke Hospital
Operated by the Pembroke Regional Hospital’s District Stroke Centre and servicing Renfrew County, this clinic operates Monday to Friday under the leadership of Dr. Debbie Timpson. The clinic is best suited for Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) patients or those who have had very mild strokes with no lasting permanent effects. Referrals to the clinic are made by a family physician or through any local hospital emergency department.
Patients who are referred to the clinic are triaged and given rapid access to diagnostic services, health assessment, diagnosis and treatment. Referrals to other services such as neurology, neurosurgery, the dietitian, the diabetes clinic, cardiovascular rehabilitation, and smoking cessation among others may also be made if appropriate.

Operated by the Pembroke Regional Hospital’s Vascular Health Program and servicing Renfrew County. The clinic is best suited for recurrent, new, and/or suspected Heart Failure. Vascular Health Education is also provided. Referrals to the clinic are made by a family physician or through any local emergency department.
Patients who are referred to the clinic are given rapid access to internal medicine consultation, diagnostic services, health assessment, and treatment. Rapid access to medical advice, when experiencing changes in signs and symptoms, in order to prevent frequent re-admissions. Referrals to other services if appropriate.
